Welcome to Base Camp

Located on the eastern part of Tjøme, in the outmost part of Røssesundet, is our Base Camp, a mere 900 meter walk from Rica Havna Hotel. Here we have our very own “paradise” which is completely sheltered from the weather, despite being less than 100 meters from the beach.

On our way to Base Camp, we pass close by some private homes and out of concern for the residents, all our guests will be escorted back and forth by our instructors.

Aktiv Fritid – ut på tur has a large “Gamme” (hut) with room for around 70 people. It has a high standard regarding both the interior and serving of food. In Gamma the guests will be seated on quality benches with backrest and comfortable reindeer skin around a large table with a warming campfire in the middle. If anyone starts feeling cold, there are woolen blankets available.

Our activity area is located right outside Gamma. Here we can offer a large number of exciting activities. After the guests have been welcomed and given information, they will be equipped with climbing gear, helmet and headlamp. We have enough equipment for everyone – so the guests will not have to spend any extra time changing equipment.

While the guests are participating in the activities, the chef will be preparing the dinner/lunch.

Every meal is prepared on site in our open wilderness kitchen, and we receive positive feedback on our good food and large servings.

For groups that are only doing the activity package, a fire will be lit out by the activities.

Activities at Base Camp

Via Ferrata – A 2 ½ hour climbing activity with several exciting rappels (abseils). We have constructed a greatly varied and exciting route that anyone with the wish to do so, can complete. The route is divided into 5 sections, and every participant is free to choose whether they want to climb all the sections. We will start off with a course for those of our guests who have not rappelled before.

Teambuilding – Team competition – Eventful and greatly varied team competition that is suited for everyone. The competition contains theoretical, practical and climbing-related tasks.

Rappelling (abseiling) – The opposite of climbing – which is to say – the guest starts at the top and, connected to a rope, “walks” down a 7 or 12 meter tall rock wall. A little scary the first time, but everyone will be accompanied by an instructor on their first rappel. We also arrange courses in rappelling.

Rope ladder – Climb up a 10 meter long free hanging ladder. Exciting activity where often the competitive instinct is tested.

Rock climbing – Our climbing wall is outfitted with climbing holds and is well suited for beginners. The wall has varying levels of difficulty.

Suspension bridge – Wiggly suspension bridge which crosses over a ravine. We guarantee tickling stomachs. The activity is thoroughly secured and also suitable to those with back problems.

“Chairlift” – Breathtaking return from the suspension bridge. Here the guests sit in a “lift” with two seats while they glide across the ravine.

Balance – Here the guests gets the opportunity to balance across a small ravine while enjoying the magnificent view of the archipelago.

Bow and arrow – Simple activity that anyone can participate in.

The Nutcracker – A difficult and fun activity on ground level.

Axe throwing – Axes are thrown at a target. We have axes available for both men and women.

Air rifle/pistol shooting – Simple activity that anyone can participate in.

Dart – Simple activity that anyone can participate in.
